Train The Trainer

Workshop Overview

This course is genuinely designed to prepare professionals to offer training to their peers, managers, or even to a public audience. It covers the rewarding aspect of training, but also its challenges, its tenets, and its importance. Participants will have ample room to interact, discuss concepts, and share their lessons learned as well as their experience. They will also have the opportunity to offer a short training session and receive feedback for it for immediate suggestions and recommendations with the interest of future participants in mind.

Workshop Outline (Each Day will include a variety of activities, mini case-studies and/ or scenarios and/or Role Plays)

Day 1

  • Workshop opening, introductions, setting of expectations, pre-course questionnaire
  • Benefits of Training with a focus on Peer Training: Theory and Practice
  • Challenges (Before, During, and After)
  • Research of Training topic: Tools & Techniques; Do’s and Don’ts
  • Planning of a Training Day: Where do I start?
  • Choice of Training Topic and Assignment for Last Day Practice

Day 2

  • Audience Expectations and Needs
  • Ground-Rule Setting
  • Topic Lead-Ins
  • Trust and Connection Building with Audience
  • Audience- Centeredness and Engagement of Training Participants
  • Choice of Tools
  • Ice-Breakers and Warmers
  • Elicitation of Insight, Input, and Participation

Day 3

  • Pair and Group Work: Dynamics and Objectives
  • Mini-Scenarios, Role Plays, and Case Studies: Leveraging Debates
  • Difficult Participants Characters: Solutions
  • Train-the Trainer: Simulation of Poor Training: Identification of Errors, Suggestions for Improvement

Day 4

  • Participant Practice: Training Assignment
  • Class and Facilitator Feedback
  • Leadership Session: Engagement and Motivation of Team Members; Leading Difficult Employees
